THE STORY

Feast Studio + Press has happily called cSPACE King Edward home since 2017. When the building’s governing organization, cSPACE Projects, asked us to create a promotional print piece to use in their upcoming $4.75M fundraising campaign, we leapt at the opportunity to convey the importance of their vision through design, copywriting, and letterpress.

cSPACE’s mission is to turn overlooked, under-utilized spaces into thriving creative hubs that connect people and ideas to ignite collaboration and change. As benefactors of this vision with our own tendency to see treasure in the overlooked and under-utilized, we felt it was fitting to incorporate hand printed wood type into the design for "c_Creative Potential”. We salvaged this type from a garage in Northeast Calgary, where it had been buried for decades, and are thrilled to be putting it to use in this context, alongside other letterpress techniques (hello, blind deboss!), copywriting, photography, and layout design to create a compelling story that will assist cSPACE in raising the funds needed to realize their next chapter.

Through all our years of letterpress printing, blind deboss has been a consistent show-stopper – which is want you’re after, really, when you’re handing someone a magazine and asking them for $4.75M. The cover of “c_Creative Potential” features this technique and creates a crisp, clean container for the magazine before unveiling the vibrancy within.
