THE STORY

When Cory and Becky Peck purchased a 30-year-old lakeside RV resort in the Slocan Valley, they knew they wanted to transform it into a modern, family-friendly camping paradise. They talked to us about their memories of camping as children, “golden moments” shared between multiple generations, and the types of experiences they wanted to facilitate for others. What unfolded was truly a dream project for Feast, as we established Camp Valhalla’s “voice”, extended the brand across multiple touch points, and shaped the user experience for campers.

Camp Valhalla’s branding package includes a suite of graphics that can be used to support or sub in for the primary logo across a variety of contexts, including web applications, signage, print material, and assorted merchandise. These custom illustrations feature flora and fauna from the area, and draw from decidedly nostalgic inspiration – hand-painted signs, badges, and vintage paint-by-numbers.

“Jess and Emma have been a complete delight to work with. It didn’t take long to learn that we could totally trust Feast Studio to take our excited and messy ideas, scattered visions, values, and business dreams, and polish them into our new campground brand! They went out of their way to truly listen and understand us, and pulled things together for us too many times to count!”

We were thrilled when Cory and Becky pitched the idea of an activity book to welcome younger campers to the site. They let us run wild with ideas, resulting in two books (geared toward different age groups) full of colouring opportunities, puzzles, and activity prompts that shine a light on animals and plants in the area, as well as good camping practices. All researched, written, and drawn by Feast!

We created two custom alphabets for Camp Valhalla, hand drawn and inspired by vintage advertising. These lend a distinct voice to the brand across web and print pieces, in addition to merchandise and on-site signage.

A small run of letterpress posters feature an illustration inspired by vintage postcards that we used across a variety of merch pieces. They were printed using a laser cut wood block and a 2 colour split fountain on the Vandercook press.

On-site signage gave us an opportunity to play with Camp Valhalla’s fun, bright colour palette and think through the brand’s “voice” in a very practical way. While the signage needed to be helpful and clear for campers, it was also important that Camp Valhalla’s vibrant, personable vibe shone through. Cory and Becky’s budget allowed us to embellish these signs with custom illustrations, which create strong cohesion with the website, merchandise, and print materials. In addition to designing these pieces, we sourced and facilitated production for all signage.

“It is clear that Feast Studio love what they do. They are enthusiastic, endlessly creative, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. We can’t recommend them enough and 100% will be working with them for many exciting future projects in years to come! Thank you for your expertise, kindness and patience with us as we dove into the deep end of our first wild business adventure!”
